About Us

The Parish Church of St. Saviour's, St. Albans

St.Saviours is the home of the community of Christians who meet here in Sandpit Lane, just to the north-east of the city centre of St Albans. We try to be a welcoming and friendly Christian community, meeting regularly particularly on Sundays, and festivals.

St Saviour's Church was built at the turn of the century to serve the Bernards Heath area of St Albans, then a “New Town.” The ethos of St Saviour’s has always been within the Catholic tradition of the Church of England and could well be described as being within “Affirming Catholicism,” whose HQ it is in the Diocese of St Albans.

At the heart of the parish is the prayerful attendance at the liturgy - the week-day Mass, the administration of the Sacraments, and especially the Sunday Parish Eucharists, from which the energy and meaningfulness of our many social activities flow.

Aim

To give glory to God, building with him a church of inspiring, prayerful and welcoming worship, fellowship, teaching and care for the community of all ages and backgrounds, inside and outside the church. To affirm and celebrate God, his Gospel and his Creation as an Anglican Catholic Parish Church in St Albans.
